Sauces & Condiments
Magic Cauldron is all about small-batch sauces and condiments, made with love, care, and a little bit of magic. Many of our ingredients are homegrown or foraged from the hedgerows and woodlands of Swansea and Carmarthenshire.
We believe in doing things the old-fashioned way:
- No artificial additives.
- No ultra-processed ingredients.
- Everything is hand-sieved and cooked in small batches, right here in my home kitchen in Llangennech, Carmarthenshire.
- All our food waste is composted and returned to the garden — where it helps grow the next season’s harvest.
Magic Cauldron isn’t just a business. It’s a promise, a purpose, and a potion of hope, stirred with love and seasoned with resilience!

Our Story
The Story Behind Magic Cauldron
When I was a child, my mum convinced my sisters and me that she was a witch — and that, if we were lucky, we’d grow up to be witches too. I believed her totally. Long before Harry Potter ever existed, I spent my childhood dreaming of getting a letter inviting me to a school for witches. I imagined soaring through the clouds on a broomstick and concocting magical potions in an old washing-up bowl in our garden, filled with mud, flower petals, and leaves I’d foraged from the hedgerows. The letter never came. But I’ve always felt at home in nature.
To this day, I love wandering through forests and overgrown footpaths, collecting leaves, flowers, berries — anything wild and wonderful that I can transform into something special. At Christmas, I’d gift hampers of homemade preserves and goodies made from foraged apples, plums, blackberries, elderberries, sloes… whatever I could find. They were always made in my old-school preserving pans — my “cauldrons” — which became the inspiration for the name of my business: Magic Cauldron.

A Twist in the Tale
In January 2022, I was diagnosed with melanoma. Many people think skin cancer is “the good kind” — something that can be cut out and forgotten. But that’s not the reality. When I learned that the cancer had spread to other parts of my body, I was devastated. In August 2023, I was told it was terminal. I had less than a year to live. And yet, here we are — it’s 2025, and I’m still here.
Thanks in part to a miraculous treatment in Israel (you can read more about this part of the story here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/staring-down-barrel-gun-kerry-matthews-qkesf/?trackingId=nudtLF4e%2BJ8BaSUnqXxE0g%3D%3D), many of my tumours disappeared, and I was given (sort of) a second chance. While lying in bed during treatment, I made myself a promise: If I get through this, I’m starting Magic Cauldron. I planned every detail in my head, made notes on my phone, and dreamt up recipes, flavour profiles, and products. This kept me from thinking about the pain and discomfort I was in.
Sadly, the second chance may be over, and I’m not sure if I’m getting a third. My cancer has returned and I while I resume immunotherapy, my husband asked if I should put the business on hold. I didn’t even hesitate: No!
This business brings me joy. It keeps me grounded, gives me purpose, and helps me focus on something other than the “big C.” None of us knows how long they have left, so every day is precious, and I plan to keep going for as long as my body allows.
